Poncho Style

Casual autumn outfit poncho skinny black jeans and booties

Are you at all surprised I’m cozying up to this poncho?  It’s chunky, comfortable, and a fantastic layering piece.  (Not to mention on sale too!)  It’s exactly the kind of winter essential for a perfectly, nonchalant style.  If you love army green as much as I do, you’ll love this one.  And, if you are willing to make a little investment, this classic camel poncho is my ultimate favorite.

Railroad Overalls

DSC_1445_3When I did this overalls throwback post here, I truly believed it was going to be my only pair because I have vowed not to revisit the 90’s grunge.  Apparently, I’m not ‘over’ the 90’s after all.  When I bought this pair, it all happened so quickly I wouldn’t allow myself to think it through.  But you don’t have to when you’re at Forever 21, right?!  I would of preferred to style these overalls up, but the truth is, I really love an after hours comfortable outfit.  Hence, let’s kick off the weekend together with this casual laid back look!

Have a relaxing weekend! xo

French Laundry

DSC_7180_2Ever feel like holding up your hands, nonverbally declaring a timeout, and magically disappearing to your happy place?  Yup, that’s happened to me.  Just last weekend, in fact, when I took a major pause from my hectic routine, threw some things into the car, and headed for Napa.  And what did I find upon my arrival?  The annual ‘Taste of Yountville’ event fortuitously getting ready to begin on Washington Street!  I’m convinced it’s the best kept secret…ever!!  (So let’s keep this between you and I, okay?  I won’t tell if you don’t tell!)  Taste of Yountville is essentially a town wide block party showcasing Yountville’s finest food, wine, and arts.  And when an event starts at Bouchon Bakery and ends at French Laundry it’s on the upper echelons category fit for food connoisseurs and avid oenophiles.  This was my relaxed countryside outfit taken at French Laundry!

Hope you find escape in some form or other this weekend.  And keep it stylish! xo

Camo and Lace

DSC_5760_2I just couldn’t post another pink look today.  More for your sake than mine as I’m the one obsessed by the color as of late.

I’m wearing a loose fitting lace cami with midriff transparency.  To keep warm and to keep it season appropriate, I slipped this old Dolce Vita crop sweater over this cami creating the illusion and silhouette of a peplum top. (The blue version of this sweater was recently styled here)  I couldn’t resist pairing this look with distressed boyfriend jeans as I practically sleep in them.  I actually own two pairs of these 7FAM in barely differentiable washes.  I just love them!  Lastly, as a huge divergence from all things pink and girly, I added this studded camo jacket which quite literally complements everything.  E-VE-RY-THANG! A must have staple!

Happy Friday and have a stylish weekend.

Mad Hatter

DSC_3242_2I bought this wool fedora back in the fall and I forgot all about it tucked away in my closet.  Like a knee-jerk reaction, I reach exclusively for beanies for head insulation primarily because of its understated, effortless vibe.  Well, I found my fedora the other day and fell in love with it all over again.  As I started to play around with different looks, I had a light bulb, aha moment and vowed to take my fedora out for a spin more often as he plays nice with all my go-to looks!  Here, the fedora elevates a basic jeans and sweater outfit to a more standout look.

DSC_3584_2Whenever borrowing from the boys, I make sure to counterbalance any masculinity by injecting feminine elements.  And the fedora is no different.  My pants are form fitting with lace up details along the leg.  My sweater is a deep plunging V-neck conveniently framing a delicate lace camisole.  Last, but not least, my leopard heels solidify that femininity leaving no room for androgynous ambiguity.
